Pauline McIlroy is an Advanced Breast Nurse Specialist in Oncology. She has early breast cancer chemotherapy clinics alongside her consultant colleagues in both the west and south practices on Tuesday's/Wednesday's and also has a commitment to review radiotherapy patients for all of the clinical oncology consultants on a Monday. She is also a member of the team for the Secondary Breast service at the Beatson on a Thursday. She works at an advanced nursing level and is an Independent Nurse Prescriber at all of her clinics.
She trained as a general nurse, qualifying in 1986 and then specialised in oncology from 1987 and specifically in breast oncology from 1997 onwards.
Alongside her clinical commitments, she is Lead nurse for the West of Scotland Breast Nurses Group and sits as board member on the West of Scotland Breast Managed Clinical Network. She was an original member for Breast Cancer Care's Secondary Taskforce which aimed to improve services for secondary breast patients and continues to do this now.
