Services for outpatients

outpatients team
When you arrive

On arrival, you should book in. You can do this either at the Out-patient Reception Desk or the Self Check-in System. Both are located in the main foyer.

Out patient check-in

Out-patient Self Check-in Kiosks are located on the left-hand side of the reception area before the Aroma Cafe and also on the right-hand side next to the Welcome Desk. This system uses a simple touch screen computer and is easy to use.

The Out-patient Reception Desk is located just past the Welcome Desk and to the right, as you enter the Main Foyer.

Once you check-in you’ll be given directions to your clinic.

Clinic areas and how they work

Each clinic area has a Staff Base where the staff work from. This is where you book in.

Occasionally, there is more than one clinic being held in a Clinic Area. For this reason, it may appear that other people seem to taken in to see the doctor before you. It may be that they are attending another consultant’s clinic.
If you have had urgent blood samples taken in preparation for chemotherapy, you may have to wait on your blood results becoming available.

As a result other patients may be called to see the doctor before you. Once the blood results are available, you will be seen as soon as possible.

Clinica Area 1

Clinic Area 1 is the largest area in outpatients, but the waiting area is rather small. You can use the waiting area at Clinic Area 2 if required, and the staff will call for you there.

Clinic Areas 2 & 3

Clinic Areas 2 & 3 have larger waiting areas and can be used if necessary.

Clinic Area 4

At Clinic Area 4 please check-in at the reception window on the left-hand side. Please follow the signs directing you there.

The Staff Base in Clinic Area 4 is based in one of the rooms instead of at a desk. Please follow the signs directing you there.

General information

The nursing staff will keep you up to date with the clinic waiting times and try to give you the reasons for any delays. However, many of the clinics are quite big and the consultations complex. This can affect waiting times significantly. Please bear with us if this occurs. You will be seen as soon as possible.

If you are due to have chemotherapy, please ensure that you make an appointment for your next clinic visit before you go through to the Macmillan Day Bed Unit.

If you need help of any kind, please speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
